Recently grooveshark underwent a major face lift making it a much sleeker, sexier and altogether easier to use service. That’s all well and good but they also moved around the url that is used when making a search query. Which means if you’re searching from the browser’s search function in any modern browser your search will go nowhere.

That is until now.

To fix this slight glitch that I am sure grooveshark itself will fix shortly you first need to find your user profile, if you don’t know where this folder is located heres mozilla to show you how depending on your operating system.

Now from that folder go to the searchplugins folder (note there is one other searchplugins folder where the default search engines are, this is not what you want however).

Now you should see some xml files, possibly many but more likely just a few. Locate the grooveshark.xml folder and open it in either a code editor or just a simple text editor.

What you will be presented with looks like a lot of garbage to the computer illiterate, but this is in fact just xml code. Don’t be discouraged the fix is really simple, just copy and paste one line in and you’re done.

Now scroll to the bottom (or do a search for template= and highlight everything inside the quotes, but not the quotes themselves, and paste in this line
"http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/search/?query={searchTerms}"

Now all you need to do is restart firefox and your searches of grooveshark should work perfectly

So I’m killing time at work before the top of the hour and we have to deliver some things to another building on campus and so I figured I would browse slashdot and digg just to see what was going on in the nerd world, and I saw a story about republicans voting for Hillary to derail the Obama campaign.

Once the page loads I happily roll my mouse down from the tabs towards the article link when suddenly I am attacked by…. well the image below will show you.

Yes, that is a ginormous effin breakfast burrito. Problems like this at digg have happened before only I haven’t been exposed to them as I have happily used adblock at work to stop annoying flash based ads and media players, but that doesn’t work when I am at work.

I am an ardent user of digg, it’s one of the sites I visit every day and probably multiple times a day, but lately it’s been seeming less and less like the hang out for whats going on in the world and in tech and more and more like a money driven myspace clone.

I want to stick with digg, and I don’t expect them to stop serving up ads with their links, but stop with the obtrusive ads, because if you don’t the crowd will leave and then who will you serve the ads to?

So tonight many things happened in Florida, John Mccain won a primary over good ole Willard “Mittens” Romney, and we finally don’t have St. Rudy of 9/11 to push around any more, oh the democrats answered the age old question … Continue reading →

So tonight many things happened in Florida, John Mccain won a primary over good ole Willard “Mittens” Romney, and we finally don’t have St. Rudy of 9/11 to push around any more, oh the democrats answered the age old question of “what would happen if we had a primary but no one campaigned?” And Hillary’s website answered that question with this:

Which is total bullshit, until recently she hadn’t even mentioned Florida, and now she’s acting like she won a contested primary. For those of you not in the know, Florida moved up its primary, the DNC said that was a no, no but the Florida dems did it anyways, and in response all the democratic candidates agreed not to campaign there and also to not allow the Florida delegates to be awarded or seated. Same thing happened in Michigan with the same result, Hillary proclaiming she won the primary.

She will do whatever it takes it seems, even deploy the soft racism of Bill Clinton. We don’t need a win at all costs president, we need a president who stands for something. Not only for the ideals of the left, but someone who stands for us, a president who wants to truely unite the country. What we need is change, a departure from the failed policies and bickering of the past, we need someone who can really provide the one thing that has become a buzzword in this election, change. What we need is:

The theme is based off of Super Mario Bros. 3 and it is extremely well done. Try this link for it and if that doesn’t work, use the google.

UPDATE: the above link is farked but download.com has it.
